The Department of Communities is inviting homelessness sector staff to a Homelessness Commissioning: Co-Working Session.
They invite homelessness sector staff to a co-working session to be held on Friday 14 October from 10.00am – 12.00 midday at the Department of Communities Boorloo Office, 130 Stirling St, Perth (please sign in at reception on Level 6).
RSVP via Eventbrite.
The Process
This session is the first of regular and ongoing Sector, Communities and Lived Experience Co-working sessions intended to inform the first stage of the Homelessness Commissioning process.
This first stage will focus on System Mapping and Sector Engagement which will inform the design and procurement of future services that deliver a collaborative place-based response incorporating a No Wrong Door and Housing First approach.
This collaborative approach will assist in developing a shared understanding of foundational aspects of commissioning, including:
- service types and definitions;
- homelessness system service continuum (from Outreach to Housing);
- the most pressing priorities and needs within the community; and
- service demand.
Future sessions will involve a focussed session in the morning, after which attendees are welcome to base themselves from the Department’s Co-working space to allow for more informal discussion with staff from the Office of Homelessness.
- Each session will have a specific topic for discussion, specific questions for attendees to respond to, and then the opportunity for further conversation throughout the day.
- Participation by attendees is flexible. They can choose how long they attend for and will be able to complete their regular work duties as needed, as well as participate in conversations.
- The schedule of topics to be addressed at each session will remain flexible, as issues and priorities emerge throughout discussions.
- Organisations are welcome to send multiple representatives that work in their homelessness programs, especially if their work informs the topic for any given session.
Further Information
If you are unable to attend for a specific session the topics and questions will be made available via an online whiteboarding tool (like Miro) to enable broad participation.
If you have any questions please call or email Andrew Joske, Principal Policy Officer, Office of Homelessness – homelessness.commissioning@communities.wa.gov.au | 0403 872 736.
